Suave & Jomo Swan Live @ Eaton Radio DC

DC Metro Area based open format DJ/Music Producer: I have lived quite the life! I guess we’ll start with my father, who immigrated to the states from our territory of Puerto Rico sometime before I was born by joining the United States Army (Hooah!) and passed away in 2021. He and my mother both had kids with other folks before they met each other. I had lots of brothers and sisters growing up, and our family barely had enough resources for us at times. My parents both had 2 jobs and still could barely make ends meat. It was a hard knock life in the beginning. My brothers and sisters and I roamed the streets of our neighborhood as they weren’t home to watch us. Eventually my father got a better job, and we moved to the sticks. There, unfortunately, I got into drugs (please keep reading, I have been sober for 12 years). I experimented with every drug I possibly could in order to try and escape from trauma caused by my childhood that I won’t get into too much detail about, but let’s just say I was escaping from quite a few things. My journey towards sobriety started at 7 years old when I smoked my first cigarette. My journey with music started at 8 years old when I picked up my first guitar. I am now 33 years old, 12 years sober from heroine and still pursuing my musical dreams, having devoted my entire life to the musical vibrations of the earth. I have even quit smoking at this point! I have met so many beautiful people in the hardest times of their lives, and now it is my turn to use the power of my sobriety to help others heal through music (and sometimes not sobriety). Sonically, I embrace every culture because my ancestors are from all over the planet. I am open format, and can fit any vibe, but my main focus is on underground house music because the underground house music community of the DC/Baltimore areas helped heal me from my trauma through music, movement and connection.
